UNDERLYING PRINCIPLES GOVERNING ENROLMENTSSt. Thomas More School is here primarily for the nurture of the baptismal faith of the children of parishioners. This nurture involves appropriate formation through prayer, study, liturgy, community building and other practices, which are characteristic of the Catholic Church.
The school’s Religious Education program is seen as supplementary to the faith life and the worship practices of the child’s family. Infant Baptism is presumed, and Sunday Mass, Sacramental reception and prayer at home is expected as a commitment from the family. Without such practice the lessons given by teachers will remain purely academic.
For non-Catholic children, it is equally important for their families to support the school’s Religious Education program by their own prayer and worship. The idea of Religious Education as a mere academic exercise or as a purely school-based experience is not acceptable.
