One of the most respected figures in English history, Thomas
More was a Statesman, scholar and author. He was noted for his wit and also for his
devotion to his religion.
Thomas and his family lived happily, sharing their means with the poor. He enforced the Laws of England and saw that the poor were protected against injustice. He was beheaded as a traitor for his refusal to acknowledge King Henry VIIIs supremacy over the church. Thomas More was canonised by Pope Pius XI in 1935, and his feast day is celebrated on June 22nd. |
